Expert Panel appointed


The National Patient Safety Agency are delighted to confirm the review panel for the Maternal and Newborn Health Clinical Outcome Review.


The panel is chaired by Dr Sheila Shribman, National Clinical Director for Children, Young People and Maternity Services, Department of Health. Dr Shribman will be supported in this important work by:


  • Professor Debra Bick: Professor of Midwifery and Women’s Health, Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King's College

  • Robin Burgess: Chief Executive Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership

  • Dr Catherine Calderwood: Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Senior Medical Officer Women and Children’s Health Scotland

  • Mr Nigel Davies: Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust

  • Dr Jim Livingstone: Director of Safety, Quality and Standards Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety Northern Ireland

  • Miss Heather Mellows: Professional Advisor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Health

  • Dr Suzette Woodward: Director of Patient Safety, National Patient Safety Agency


The first panel session will take place in London on 11 May 2011 at the National Patient Safety Agency offices.
